27 Candy Free Handmade Valentine Ideas Kids Will Love
If my kids could eat candy 24/7 they probably would. I think that’s pretty typical for kids. I remember being 12 years old, walking to the corner store with my friend, laying out a bunch of babysitting money to buy a candy stash for my room, and then hiding it away where my parents couldn’t find it. I was in heaven! Candy anytime I wanted? It was a dream come true!!!…. Until my parents found my stash. They were not impressed.
Now that I’m a mom myself and am responsible for my family’s health and nutrition, I understand where my parents were coming from. If I was doing what’s best for their health, I’d probably put a ban on all candy, but I’m afraid that like me, they would rebel, and so I limit candy to a treat every once in awhile.
We still have Halloween Candy, tucked away in cloth bags at the top of our pantry closet. We’ll probably be nursing it until next Halloween. Every once in awhile the bags come down and the kids can pick one piece to eat.
Candy seems like the “go to” thing to give for celebrations– Valentine’s day, Easter, Birthday Party favors, Christmas. Why???
Since I love the idea of giving handmade whenever possible, I to put together some candy free handmade Valentine ideas. Your kids can get involved helping to make these. Some would be great to give to friends, some for family and loved ones, and other’s would be special for your kids to wake up to on Valentine’s Day morning.
I hope you enjoy these ideas, and that they help make your Valentine’s Day a little bit more special!
Handmade. Homemade. Heart-made!
