Kids Nature Walk and Found Object Collage Project Perfect For Earth Day 7

Earth Day is just around the corner and I think it’s the perfect opportunity to teach our kids about the world that we live in. Don’t get me wrong, I try to teach Bean about environmentalism and taking care of our natural resources all year long, but it’s fun to celebrate with extra Earth Day goodness in April.

Over the weekend I was exploring my favorite blogs on Bloglovin (You can follow Sew Creative here), when an image from Modern Parents Messy Kids caught my eye. Alli had taken her son on a nature walk and they made bug collages out of the items that they had collected on their walk. Make sure you go a check out the MPMK Ways To Play With Nature post because her bugs are SO MUCH BETTER THAN OURS! 😉

My family is taking part in the Today’s Parent Healthy Family Challenge and I’m blogging for Today’s Parent about our experience. Now that the weather is getting nicer in Vancouver I’ve been trying my best to get the kids outside every single day for walks. Yesterday the weather was beautiful so inspired by Modern Parents Messy Kids I decided that we should go on a nature hunt.

I loaded Turtle up in his stroller, we grabbed one of Bean’s Easter Baskets, put Jake on his leash and out we set.

We had so much fun doing this activity. To be honest I think that the nature walk and hunting for the items was a bigger hit than making the bugs out of what we found. I might try to do a nature scavenger hunt for our next nature walk. I also loved all the fun photos I got of the kids while we were out. Documenting our activities for Sew Creative is one of my favorite things about blogging. It’s helping me preserve so many memories.

A big thank you to Alli and Modern Parent Messy Kids for the inspiration!

Do you have any Earth Day activities planned for your little ones?
