You guys!!! The big day is finally here. I’ve been so excited about this day for weeks now but holding it inside! Today marks the official launch of the Cricut Maker on HSN and to celebrate I’ve gotten together with 49 of my blogging buddies for a giant blog hop! Each of us made one of the 50 free projects that Cricut gives to you when you purchase the Cricut Maker. We are showing them off on our sites AND we are giving one lucky reader a Cricut Maker with the complete HSN bundle!!! Amazing right?

As soon as I heard that there was going to be a Cricut Maker project blog hop, I knew that I wanted in. As I told you in this post, I’m a firm believer that anyone who sews will want to have the Cricut Maker in their life. The machine is a game changer when it comes to sewing. Not only does it do all of the cutting for you, but there also a ton of sewing patterns complete with step by step instructions and photos built right into Design Space. Plus they are constantly adding new ones. I love logging in each week and being surprised by all the awesome new projects that I can make!

I knew I had to do a sewing project for you all since the rotary cutter is my favorite thing about the new maker. As soon as I heard about the blog hop I jumped right on over to the signup and scored a project that was on my “Must Make” list! Today I’m showing off the Essential Wallet Sewing Tutorial from Cricut Design Space

Here’s my finished wallet! Isn’t it so fun?!?!?

When I first saw this project I wondered why it was called the Essential Wallet, and then I made it and realized how it got that name. This is the perfect sized wallet to hold all of your essentials when you don’t want to lug your purse along with you. It will fit your cell phone, your business cards, your cash, your drivers license, bank card, credit card and your lipstick. It’s the perfect little wallet and with Cricut’s instructions it’s really easy to make.

Cricut lists this project as an intermediate project that takes 2-3 hours to make. I would agree with the intermediate rating, this project requires you to be able to sew a zipper which can be intimidating the first time, but gets easier each time you do it. I found that this project took me approximately an hour to make but I think after making it once that I’d be able to make the next one faster.

The materials you need for this project are:

The rotary cutter on the Cricut Maker cut the fabric like butter! From the quilting cotton to the fusible fleece, everything cut beautifully and came off of the cutting mat afterwards without a hitch!

I’m super proud of how the inside and the zipper turned out! This was only my second time sewing a zipper. I love how the color of the zipper pops but still coordinates with the polka dots!
