Mischief Managed Harry Potter Shirt Tutorial

Happy Harry Potter!!! Harry Potter’s birthday is in just a few days on July 30th and that means it’s time to celebrate the world’s most famous magician! Every year Marissa from Rae Guns and Ramblings, coordinates all of us Harry Potter loving bloggers and hosts a huge Happy Harry Potter Celebration. Each of us create a Harry Potter inspired craft, DIY project or recipe and shares it on our own sites and Marissa rounds them all up in one place on her site. Harry Potter changed literacy in a hugely significant way which I think is amazing. Last year I wrote about my experience working as a bookseller when the Harry Potter books blew up, and how I worked as the the children’s book publicist for the Canadian Publisher of Harry Potter when the last book was published. For this year’s project I knew that I wanted to make something on the Cricut. You all know about my love affair with making t-shirts, so it seemed like a great opportunity to make a new one. I LOVE the look of hand lettering but have not yet mastered the skill. My friend, Melissa Allen, works for Cricut and I had been noticing her posting photos to her Facebook feed of beautiful hand lettered projects she’s been creating. (Check out Melissa’s Instagram feed here.) I decided to ask Melissa if she wanted to partner with me on this project and hand letter a quote for me.  

Harry Potter has SO MANY good quotes, it’s hard to pick just one. Melissa pretty much immediately came up with the quote “Mischief Managed” and I instantly could imagine my sassy girl wearing it. 

Melissa’s hand lettering work is flawless and she has been nice enough to let me give you all the Mischief Managed SVG file to download so you can make your own shirt! Read on to learn how to make your own Mischief Managed Harry Potter shirt! 

Mischief Managed Harry Potter Shirt Tutorial

Materials:

–Cricut Explore
–Standard Grip Cutting Mat
–Cricut Iron-On in your favorite colors (I used Multi Color Glitter Iron On.)
-Iron
-T-Shirt or Tank Top

Directions:

1. Download the Mischief Managed SVG file and then upload it to Cricut’s Design Space.

2. Size your image so it fits on your shirt.

4. Click Go, click the Mirror Image Box, and then cut using your favorite iron on vinyl. Make sure the dial of your Cricut is set to Iron On.  

5. Iron on shirt following the instructions for the heat transfer vinyl you are using.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
