Hi Friends! It’s been just over a week since I returned from SNAP Conference and my mind is still spinning a mile a minute. SNAP is a craft blogging conference held in Salt Lake City, organized by the incredible Tauni Everett and her team. This is the fourth year that I’ve attended SNAP and each year I get more and more out of it. I always psych myself out a bit before heading to a conference. Entering a room with 400 new faces can be intimidating, but the women who attend each year are so lovely, that it almost starts to become a little bit like summer camp!

I still get pretty “fan girly” when I’m at SNAP. The very first blogger who I ever followed was Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts. Guess what?!?!? Mandy attends SNAP Conference every year too and each year I get to talk to her and tell her how much I adore everything she does! Marissa from Rae Gun and Ramblings? The two of us nerd out together bonding over young adult novels and Harry Potter! And yes, she’s just as sweet as she appears to be in her fabulous Facebook Live videos!  Bev from Flamingo Toes? We met up at the airport and travelled to the hotel together! I’ve also gotten to see her embroidery hoop art in person and let me tell you… that lady has some serious talent! Kim from A Girl and a Glue Gun? We hung out at a sewing party together and she gave me a hug when I saw her! She also has the most amazing sense of style. Heidi from Happiness is Homemade gifted me a copy of #GirlBoss at the annual Snap Book Exchange. Jen from Tatertots and Jello found my iphone when I lost it and I squealed and hugged her when she returned it to me. And on the last day of Snap? I was brought to tears by Heidi Swapp and had the opportunity to talk to her after the conference was over. We talked for almost half an hour and I told her that not only do I admire her as a designer but also as a woman and a mother. Wow did that woman open up in a completely honest and vulnerable way.

This may sound like a lot of name dropping… but it has a purpose… Do you know what all of these women, and the other women who I meet at SNAP have in common? They are all real women, who love their families and are working hard to fulfill their creative passion AND make a living doing it. These women are BAD ASS! I can’t tell you how many women at Snap have told me that their husband has left his job to help them run their blog!!! Isn’t that incredible!  As fierce, bad ass and awe inspiring as these women are– they are also 100% down to earth, real, and just like you and me…. which makes me love and admire them all the more! It’s always so nice to meet someone who  you have been a fangirl of for awhile and find out that she is just as nice in real life as you have imagined her to be while reading her blog!

(BTW I also shared a room with Brooke from Brooklyn Berry Designs and Emily from My Mom Made that, who are also fierce, bad ass ladies!)

The theme of this year’s SNAP was “Believe” and while unicorns weren’t officially a theme, they were definitely an abundance of them including a beautiful bracelet with a unicorn charm from Charmed Collections, unicorn decorations and a unicorn party thrown by Cents Of Style

I used to collect unicorns as a kid, so it didn’t take me much convincing to get involved in the unicorn theme. I even went and got a new “unicorn hairdo” before I left for the conference.

On the second day of the conference I won a Prizm machine from Spellbinders along with an adorable unicorn die cut set, so for today’s post I decided to help calm my mind from the million and one SNAP thoughts that are floating through it by focusing on craft project that’s so easy, even your kids can do it. Today I’m teaching you how to make Super Simple DIY Unicorn Planner Bookmarks! I hope you love them as much as I do. Read on to learn how to make them!

Materials:

-Cardstock/Scrapbook paper (the heart design is from a Mambi Cardstock Pad and the butterflies are an individual sheet of paper I bought at Michaels)

Spellbinders Prizm (or your favorite cutting machine)

Unicorn Fantasy Die Cuts (or your favorite unicorn die or design file)

-Glue (I love using Gorilla Glue Super Glue for this project. It holds the paperclip into place so you don’t have to worry about it falling out.)

Paperclips in bright fun colors

Directions:

Step 1: Cut out unicorns and clouds using your Spellbinders Prizm. For each paperclip you want to do one cut with the design on the paper facing down and another with the paper design facing up. That way you will be able to sandwich your two unicorn designs with a paperclip in the middle and the paper design facing out on the front and back.

Step 2: Lay your unicorn or cloud on a newspaper, paper towel, or another work surface that you can get glue on. Make sure the patterned part of the paper is facing down. Put glue on the paper, paying special attention to make sure you have glue on all the edges. Lay your paperclip down on top of the glue so the bottom of the clip is extending beyond the paper. Lay your second unicorn or cloud on top of the first one, making sure that the patterned part of the paper is facing out. Use an extra paperclip (or your fingers) to smooth out any air bubbles and make sure that your two designs are lined up correctly.

Step 3: Set aside to dry. Once dry, use in your planner, as a bookmark, or anywhere where you would like a fun paperclip! I made these with my Happy Planner in mind! I love making new Happy Planner Accessories. Enjoy these adorable clips and/or gift them to someone to brighten their day!

The minute my daughter saw these unicorn clips she asked if she could have them to use as bookmarks! She’s pretty unicorn crazy herself these days. This unicorn charger was her favorite thing that I brought home from the conference with me:
