Each year I like to make a little handmade gift for Turtle and Bean’s Easter baskets. Last year I felted yellow dryer balls and needle felted chick faces on them. This year I am amigurumi and crochet obsessed so I figured a crochet project would be fun.
I was looking at my Amigurumi Blue Bird and thought how he looks a bit like a giant Easter Egg. I had a bunch of plastic Easter Eggs left from my Spring Wreath and the wheels in my head started turning… what if I made two crochet “cups” to fit around the top and bottom of a plastic Easter Egg and made little Amigurumi Easter Egg Birds?
Last night I whipped up a couple so I thought I would share the pattern in case you wanted to give them a try too!

Assembly:
-Attach wings- Flatten wings. Using yarn tail that you left on wings, sew wings to round 9 of the top of your bird. Pinch top of wing together and sew through both sides of the wing fastening to the body. 1 wing on each side of the bird.
-Attach beak- Using yarn tail, sew beak onto the “face” of the top section of your bird.
-Cut ovals from your black felt, glue gun to the face of your bird.
-Cut small circles from the white felt, glue gun onto the center of the black part of the eye.
-Glue eggs to your crochet. The first time I assembled one of the birds I put glue from my glue gun onto the plastic egg and then tried inserting it inside of my crochet piece. It was a mess! The glue pushed up as I was inserting the plastic egg and got all over the egg. Instead I suggest putting the glue from your glue gun on the inside of your crochet work and then push the plastic egg inside.
-Fill with candy, put in Easter basket and enjoy!
