Hi Friends! Today we are going to climb into our time machines and head way back into the past. I’m talking about the 80’s! Do you remember that era? Feathered hair, neon jelly bracelets, sweatshirts that hung off of one shoulder, New Kids On The Block, Saturday morning cartoons and Shrinky Dinks! Shrinky Dinks were one of my favorite craft projects when I was a kid. I had a Rainbow Brite Shrinky Dink set and I remember coloring it in perfectly then sitting by the oven, staring through the little window and watching my Shrinky Dink shrink down into a hard piece of plastic. I had little stands for my Rainbow Brite Shrinky Dinks and I kept those little figures on my dresser for years after I made them. They were awesome.
Well fellow children of the 80’s, like all good things, Shrinky Dinks are making a comeback! Over the past couple of months I’ve had a great time introducing my kiddos to one of my favorite crafts from my youth.
Recently, my kids, The Hubs and I all took silly selfies and we turned them into a little DIY Hello Creative Family Play Set. We pulled out a roll of chalkboard paper, drew some fun scenes on it, and my kids let their imaginations run wild as they played with little dolls that looked just like us!
I shared the project over on MomResource.ca. You can find it here.
Tell me… Did you play with Shrinky Dinks when you were a kid? Do you know some kiddos that would love to make a DIY Shrinky Dinks Family Play Set?
