We are nearing the end of the kids’ two week spring break from school and I am feeling fried! Please tell me I’m not the only one?!?!? As much as I love this time with them, working from home when your kids are around is hard. I took the first week off with them, but for week two I had to get back to reality. I feel like it takes all of my energy just to concentrate on my work when there is the havoc of kids all around me. Trying to be creative and create things feels impossible. When all of my creativity is drained and I have no idea what to make next, that’s when I always turn to my Cricut. One of the things that I love the most about a Cricut is that it has the ability to make anyone a maker.

Yesterday, feeling drained of all my creative abilities, I opened up Cricut Access to take a peek at their Make It Now projects

Cricut has 49 free projects available for the Cricut Explore Air, 50 free projects for the Cricut Explore Air 2, 25 free projects for the Cricut Explore Air One, and 52 free projects availabe for the Cricut Maker. That is 176 FREE projects! I don’t have a Cricut Explore One so I decided to test to see if I could make one of those projects for free too, or if you have to own the Cricut One and– Yep! I could do them!

Those projects are just the beginning of the making iceberg!  Once you get a hang of your Cricut here are so many projects that you can design and make yourself. Here are some examples of projects I created/designed. You can find them here

A ton of great project ideas for the Cricut Maker and the Cricut Explore from Hello Creative Family. Most of these projects take 1 hour or less to make! #CricutMaker #CricutMade #cricutprojects #craft

Cricut also has Make It Now projects that are free with a Cricut Access subscription. I love that Cricut gives all users access to so many Make It Now projects because it gives you such a good idea of what your Cricut is capable of. They can also inspire you when you are feeling creatively drained like I was yesterday. The Cricut will truly pull you out of your creative slump– Which brings me to today’s project!

The very first project I made on my Cricut Maker was a fabric headband from a Cricut Make It Now file. You can watch me make it live here. Yesterday I decided to make another one for my daughter. They make an adorable spring and summer fashion accessory and are super quick and easy to make. You can easily whip one up in 10 minutes.

Step 2: Lay your fabric face down on your fabric cutting mat. Make sure the rotary cutter is in your Cricut Maker and load your mat into the machine. Select the appropriate fabric from the material list and then cut your fabric.

Step 3: Remove your fabric from the cutting mat. Measure around your head where you plan on wearing the headband. Subtract 15″ from your head circumference and cut your elastic to that length.

Step 4: Lay one piece of your fabric on your work surface with the printed side facing up. Pin your elastic so that the two ends of the elastic are pinned to two ends of the fabric oval.

Lay the second piece of fabric on top of your first piece of fabric with the printed side facing down and pin or wonder clip into place. Your elastic will probably be shorter than your fabric so you’ll need to stretch the elastic to accomplish this.

Step 5: Using your sewing machine, use a 1/2 inch seam allowance to sew around the outside edge of your headband, making sure to sew over the ends of the elastic that’s sandwiched between the two pieces of fabric. Leave a 2 inch opening on one side so that you can flip your headband right side out.

  1. Cute project! I do not own a Cricut. I keep hoping Santa will bring me one, LOL! Thanks for the tips about fringing the seam for flipping inside out. Never think to do that.

  2. Wow! This came out so beautiful. The pattern on the fabric is adorable, too.
