Fan·girl (pronounced ˈfanˌgərl) noun- an obsessive female fan.
Hello! My name is Crystal and I am a fan girl. If you don’t know the meaning of fan girl, you can see it above. Obsessive may be too strong of a word for what I am… I prefer words like passionate, enthusiastic and fiercely loyal. When I get excited about a person (be they an author, blogger or business owner) or a product, I can’t help but shout my praises from the rooftop.
I LIVE for connecting people and sharing products with those who I know will love them as much as I. In my 20’s I worked for the event planning company that organizes TED Conferences. I was in heaven. “Hey Ethos Water, do you know Starbucks? No? Well you really should. They should sell your water! Let me introduce you!”
One of the things I fan girl over is the website Poppytalk. I have been a Poppytalk fan girl since they came onto the blogging scene in 2005. This was long before I started a blog of my own, probably even before I had dreams of creating my own site. Poppytalk was one of the very first blogs that I followed religiously. I knew that if I visited the Poppytalk site that I would never be disappointed. I would always find something there to inspire and delight. The fact that Jan and Earl lived in Vancouver (like me) made the idea of becoming a blogger all the more real and their site even more inspiring.
Fast forward 8 years and I am now a blogger! Yay! As a blogger, on occasion, super awesome things happen to me that make me fan girl. One of these things happened a few weeks ago. I was invited to a Target Canada product launch at The Vancouver Art Gallery. I am a fan girl for Target too, so I was already VERY excited… but then I opened the invitation and saw what product they were launching: THE POPPYTALK FOR TARGET COLLECTION!
I freaked out “Oh my god, oh my god!!! OH MY GOD!!!!! HUBS!!!! I was just invited to THE POPPYTALK FOR TARGET LAUNCH!!!!”
The Hubs looked at me blankly. “That’s very exciting?!?!” he said/questioned.
Shortly after I was off to the launch and was among the first to see the new product line. It exceeded my expectations. The Poppytalk for Target line will take your summer entertaining to a whole new level. Here are my photos from the event (Hint hint: Hubs… you know how my birthday is a few weeks away? I’ll take 1 of everything please.)
If this is what camping looks like, I’ll camp every single weekend. Poppytalk for Target takes glamping to a whole new level. Checkers game, campfire stove, skewers and serving bowls. Ranging from $5.00-$20.00.
This is how Jan and Earl from Poppytalk camp! I want an aqua vintage trailer. Gorgeous Poppytalk for Target picnic baskets, string lights, plastic flatware and throws. Ranging from $4.00-$25.00.
I imagine that every tea time at Jan and Earl’s house looks like this! The Poppytalk for Target collection including plastic flatware, dinner and snack plates, pink cups, collapsible caddy, dessert cups, straws, candelabra and cake stands. Ranging from $3.00-$20.00.
I realized afterwards that I missed taking a photo of the beautiful Poppytalk for Target lantern, thermos and skewers. Ranging from $10.00-$18.00.
Want to see my fangirling in action? Check out the Poppytalk for Target launch video. You’ll get to witness me proclaiming my love for Poppytalk. (Hint, I’m the one with the jean jacket and curly hair.)

I LOVE it, Crystal! I’m a huge Jan and Earl fan too! I wish that you and I could have toured that scene together. Glamping is one of my favourite past times ! And the fact that they had that ultra-cool Boler trailer is just icing on the cake. It’s too fabulous.
