Summer is just around the corner and for my family that means lots of barbecuing and lots of condiments. Years ago we used to have a refrigerator door full of BBQ sauces, marinades, salad dressings and other condiments. Store bought condiments are yummy and convenient, but are often filled with preservatives, sugar and extra calories. If you plan ahead, and stock your pantry properly then homemade condiments are quick and easy to make and fabulous because you can customize the flavor to your families taste buds.
It’s been several years now since I’ve bought salad dressing. Instead I spend my money on delicious artisan vinegars and oils and make my own custom creations.
Ketchup is an ingredient that is asked for often in BBQ sauce and marinades but I’ve never tried making it on my own. I was so excited when I saw that Heidi from Dish About It submitted her healthy homemade ketchup recipe. This recipe uses all pantry staples and is no cook so it’s super easy to make! I can’t wait to try making a batch for our next hamburger BBQ and to try making homemade BBQ sauce with it.
