I remember the feeling I had when I wrote my very first blog post. I felt like the first one had to be monumental in some way, an introduction to the site and to me… It had to be special! I’m feeling a bit of those same nerves right now because it’s been 3 weeks since I posted last!

I took 3 blissful weeks off for winter holidays to prep for Christmas, enjoy time with family, visit friends who moved out of town and to just “be” with my kids. Because of that, it has been 3 weeks since I have posted anything on Hello Creative Family. I don’t think I’ve ever taken that much time off before, but I needed it. I needed some downtime and my kids needed some mom time. I feel like we all got what we needed out of my little break.

My kids went back to school yesterday. After I dropped them off at school, came home, made myself a cup of tea and sat down at my computer I felt a sense of panic! I felt for some reason like my first post back needed to be significant… and to be honest I didn’t know what that should be. It made me feel stuck and I didn’t like that feeling. My good friend Raj from Pink Chai Living phoned me unexpectedly this morning for a check and suddenly all of these thoughts about feeling lost came tumbling out of my mouth. I don’t think I’d even consciously realized I was feeling that way!

Raj was an amazing listener and was so insightful with her advice for how I was feeling. She had some great suggestions and I left the call feeling re-energized and ready to take on 2018.

My next few days of work are going to include some big planning for Hello Creative Family for 2018 and as part of this planning it seemed like a good time to look back at 2017 and what posts people seemed to connect with. I usually do a “Most Popular Posts Of The Year” post and the majority of the posts that make that list are usually posts that are a year or more older that have had a chance to get popular on Pinterest and gain some “google juice”.

I was really pleasantly surprised to see how many Hello Creative Family posts from 2017 were on that list, so this year I decided to shake things up a bit and bring you a list of our top 12 posts from 2017.

Before I get to that list I want to give all of you a virtual hug and a big thank you. I’m so grateful that I get to put writer/blogger as my occupation when I’m filling in forms and that is thanks to all of you.
