You might remember that back in August I made the commitment to once a month check in and do a recap of the past month. A digital scrapbook of sorts to help me, and anyone who happens to be interested a snapshot of what the past month looked like in the life of my creative little family. The reason why I decided to do this was two part– 1. I had listened to a podcast that inspired me and I was trying to figure out why I loved the bloggers that I do. I determined that it was because they share the real them with the world. 2. I realized that I had been hiding, behind the camera, behind the computer, feeling unhappy about myself and being afraid to reveal that to the world.
Each month so far I feel like I’ve covered a topic that might be interesting to someone other than me.
- In my July recap I wrote about how I’ve been hiding and how I hope to change that.
- In my August recap I wrote about my sensitive child and the challenge of helping him (and other sensitive kids) adjust to kindergarten.
- In my September recap I wrote about how I lost my DivaCup at Disneyland and why every woman should know about menstrual cups.
- And in my October recap I wrote about how we adopted our sweet little rescue dog, Mochi.
I’ve put off writing my November recap several times now (you might notice the date is December 14th which means I’m almost 2 weeks late writing this), but when I thought back on the last month I couldn’t think of many exciting or life changing events that have happened. The truth is– Life just kind of went on for the past month. We lived, we loved one another, each of us came down with colds and missed work and school, we went about our day to day activities, we adjusted even more with our newest family member Mochi (who is sitting on my lap as I’m writing this) and we looked forward to the holidays.
In all honestly the most exciting thing we did in November was probably getting our annual holiday photos done. So I’m going to share those with you now!
For the past two years I’ve been booking mini holiday Christmas sessions with Indi from IXL Photography. Indi sets up a couple of sets in a studio and invites families to come in for 15-20 minute photo sessions.
It was so much fun watching the kids take their photos this year. They had a confidence in front of the camera that was fun to see. I was so happy when Indi sent me our photos and they were even better than I had imagined. It was so much fun to see how much my kids have changed in the past year.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from our shoot.
Bean was tickling Turtle in his armpits and under his chin in these photos to get him to laugh.
Bean looks so grown up in this one it just kills me!
Here is a comparison of one of last year’s photos to show you how much the kids have grown.
Now I clearly have put on weight in the past year, and yes it’s not easy for me to look at the photos and acknowledge that…but do you know what? We are happy and healthy and that is what is most important.
So 10 days before Christmas (eve) that’s inspiring my wish for you– From my family to yours, I hope you all have a happy and healthy holiday season!
