For 90 years Disney has been transporting children of all ages to magical worlds full of fantasy and wonder. I remember growing up in the 80’s when Sunday night meant watching The Wonderful World of Disney while we ate dinner. Sunday was the one night of the week that we got to watch TV while we ate, and The Wonderful World of Disney was the only show that was allowed on while we were at the table. If The Wonderful World wasn’t on, the TV wasn’t on either. I think that may have been because my parent’s secretly loved the show as much as my sister and I did.
It sometimes makes me sad that seeing this video won’t flood my kids with memories and emotions.
Love for Disney gets passed from generation to generation and my own kids are already creating their own Disney memories. We took Bean to Disneyland when she was 3 and I was 6 or 7 months pregnant with Turtle. We went back and forth wondering whether she was too young for the trip and if she would be able to fully enjoy the experience. We were so happy that we went for it. Going to Disneyland was the best family trip that we ever took. I can’t wait to make the trip again with both children and to be able to write about it here. Every part of Disneyland was magical for Bean, she beamed when she met her favorite Disney characters and was transfixed when she was transported to their magical worlds.
Bean hasn’t found a Disney movie she didn’t like. From traditional classics like Sleeping Beauty and Lady and the Tramp to newer favorites like Monsters University and Tangled to superhero movies like Thor The Dark World, she loves them all. Bean memorizes the lines, can tell you the storyline backwards and forwards and begs for the costumes.
It makes me so happy that Bean and now Turtle are creating Disney memories of their own. We recently received an invitation from Disney On Ice to attend opening night of Disney On Ice Rockin’ Ever After here in Vancouver on November 27th. Heralded as being part talent show, party fairy tale and all fun the show features story-lines and characters from Tangled, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Brave. Take a look at this set!
Here is the description from Disney:
Jam to a Scottish jig as a group of royal contenders from the Academy Award-winning Disney•Pixar film, BRAVE, competes to win the heart of adventurous, sharp-shooting Merida, making her on-ice debut! Experience a show-stopping performance as Sebastian breaks out of his shell for one night only to make waves with Ariel. A chorus of harmless hooligans from Tangled unleashes musical mayhem when they get a visit from the sassy and spirited Rapunzel and her charming ally Flynn. And, get your feet moving as the Beast and his castle’s enchanted entourage take center stage in a spectacular show for Belle. It will be a rockin’ remix of royalty with Disney on Ice.
We still haven’t told Bean that we are going (I think that we’ll wait and tell her 1 week before so that we can do a 7 day countdown.) I know that she will be so excited and counting down the days once we do. I’ll probably show her this video to get the excitement going.
