One of the truly remarkable things about being a blogger is how it helps you preserve memories. A lot of my friends started a blog as a way to share stories and photos of their kids with family members and friends who live far away. That was never my intention (but it became a very happy side effect of having a blog). When I first started my blog (then called Sew Creative Blog) I knew I wanted it to be my business. I started asking questions about monetization when the site was 4 months old and by the time I had been blogging for 6 months I was making money from the site. By the time the site was a year and a half I left my job to be at home with my kids more and to be a blogger and social media manager full time.

When I look back at some of those first posts I laugh– at how awful my photos look, at how little I knew, of how young our family looks. It’s a wonderful little reminder of how far we’ve come.

About a year ago I had a button installed in my sidebar that says “Feeling Adventurous?” When you click on it, a blog post is chosen randomly for you. It’s one of my favorite features of the site, especially when I’m scheduling social media. I sit at the computer, press the button and more often than not it’s like a blast from the past. All kinds of things that I had forgotten about pop up… Like my Quick and Easy Hoisin Sesame Sticky Chicken Recipe which popped up last week.

When I saw the post appear a few things happened.

  1. I cringed at the photos– the composition was good but the photos were so dark! Did I not edit my photos back then?
  2. My mouth started to water. It’s such a good recipe and I haven’t made it in awhile.
  3. I decided that the recipe needed new life and that I would not only edit the photos and republish it, but that I would also add it to my family’s meal plan.

You guys are going to love this recipe. It’s one of those simple 30 minute meals that only has about 5 minutes of active cooking time involved. Plus it’s delicious with the flavors of hoisin, sesame, ginger, garlic, cilantro… you guys my stomach is growling just thinking about it. Throw your chicken in the marinade in the morning and whip up this quick and easy dinner when you get home!

I hope that you’re family loves this recipe just as much as mine does. Bake it in the oven or throw it on the grill. We love it paired with quinoa and grilled vegetables.
