Kristi I am so sorry I somehow missed this comment.

When closing this hat pinch in the opposite sides of the hat and single crochet. Continue doing this around the hat pinching each section to the opposite side and inserting a single crochet. the top of the hat will have almost a star look to it when closed.

Alternatively you could probably sew it closed with a tapestry needle.
