Homemade Almond Milk Recipe

Author: Crystal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 cups of water for soaking + 4 cups of water for milk

Instructions

  • Put almonds in a bowl with 4 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir until salt dissolves then leave to soak for 6-8 hours (or overnight).
  • Drain water and rinse almonds well. At this point you will notice that the skins of the almonds easily slip off. If you want, you can remove the almond skins. I usually leave them on.
  • Put almonds in your blender. Add 4 cups of cold water. Blend for 60 seconds.
  • Pour almond mixture through a nut milk bag or a fine mesh sieve into a bowl. If using a nut milk bag, squeeze until all liquid is released. If using a sieve, press with a spoon until all liquid has released. The liquid is your almond milk!
  • Store almond milk in a glass jar in your fridge for 3-5 days. Shake before using.

Notes

Note: Dehydrate or bake the the almond pulp on low temperature to make almond meal!
