This summer marks the 20th year that I’ve been living in Canada. That means that I’ve now officially lived in Canada for longer than I lived in the U.S. It seriously doesn’t feel like that long ago! I keep having to do the math to make sure that I calculated correctly! I don’t understand how I’m old enough to have moved out of my parent’s house and to a different country 20 years ago… but then again, I moved here when I was 9 years old… so… 😉

I originally moved to Canada to go to acting school. My mom was born and raised in Vancouver and her family still lived here. We visited B.C. often and it felt like a second home to me. When I started looking at where I wanted to go to school for acting it kept coming back to California, New York or Vancouver. Vancouver was only an hour and a half drive from where I grew up, and meant that I could hop in a car to return home instead of hopping on a plane. The choice was pretty easy to make, and though I didn’t end up becoming an actress, I know that each step that I took lead me right to where I am today– which is right where I’m supposed to be.

July 1st is Canada Day. For those of you in the U.S. or other parts of the world, Canada Day is like The Fourth Of July only dialed back a notch or two because… we’re Canadian. Canada Day is the perfect excuse to throw a backyard BBQ, celebrate with friends, enjoy great food and drinks, and celebrate how lucky we are to live in such an awesome country (yes publicly funded healthcare, we’re talking about you!!!)

You know me and how much I love my customized shirts! In celebration of Canada Day I decided to create 13 different free Canada Day SVGs that you can create your own patriotic clothing with!
