Looking for ways to keep your children entertained during summer break? Hello Creative Family pulled together 27 of the best kids crafts and DIY projects that are guaranteed to have your kids using their creativity and imagination this summer!

Hello friends! Today marks the first day of summer break here in Vancouver. I think that Vancouver has one of the latest summer breaks in all of North America, so chances are if you have school aged kids, they have started summer break too. If you are anything like me, summer break comes with equal parts excitement and being terrified! I’m super excited to take some time off, spend time out in the sunshine and enjoy the company of my kids. I’m terrified because I have part time daycare this summer, I wonder how I’m going to get it all done and I’m just waiting for the “I’m bored! What can I do?” to begin.

I have a standard response to “I’m bored.” If my kids ever speak those words, I respond with “Only boring people get bored. You are a creative person. The possibilities for entertainment are endless!”

This morning I set Bean up with a summer journal, her sketchbook and a math curriculum book (yes, us creatives have to keep our left brain active too!) I’ve challenged her to write in her journal, draw in her sketchbook, and do two pages of math each day. I told her that when it comes to her drawing and writing, not to overthink it…. just do it. Getting in the habit of having a creative outlet is the first step in being creative.
