Hi crafty friends!
Here’s something you might not know about me– I’m a bit of a book nerd. Books have always played a major role in my life.
My love of books started when I was a child. Books went with me everywhere I went and I would rather hang out reading than go outside to play.
In high school my english teacher told me that I should be a writer when I grew up. He told me that I should make sure that I had a very good editor though because my punctuation and grammar were terrible (some things never change!)
When I moved to Vancouver to go to acting school I moved into an apartment right above Canada’s largest chain bookstore, Chapters. My mom bet me that I would end up working there. She was right!
9 months after moving to Vancouver I got a job at Chapters. They hired me to stand at the front door and hand out coupons for their new website. Within a few years I worked my way up to Regional Marketing Manager. Chapters was where I met my husband, who also happens to be a giant book nerd.
After leaving Chapters I went on to manage an independent bookstore called Fireside Books. It was a beautiful, quaint little bookshop with a huge river rock fireplace and beautiful floral print armchairs. We knew our customers by name and always had a great book recommendation for them.
In my late 20’s I was hired by Raincoast Books, the Canadian Publisher of Harry Potter to be their Children’s Book Publicist. It was my dream job. I worked with so many wonderful authors there including Rainbow Rowell, Marissa Meyer and Annie Barrows.
One of my fondest memories from this time was going to Toronto with Rainbow Rowell during her book tour for Fangirl. I was a Rainbow Rowell fangirl myself as were so many people that came to her events, so being with her felt kind of surreal. She was one of the nicest people I ever met. I really miss working with her.
After 8 years I left Raincoast to concentrate on Hello Creative Family full time. Working with authors is the thing I miss the most, but just because I no longer worked in publishing didn’t mean books were a thing of my past! In 2019 Skyhorse Publishing approached me to write Caticorn Crafts for them, then The Unofficial Book Of Cricut Crafts! I was officially an author myself!
And there you have my history with books and why I love them so much! Not only do I love books and to read, but my kids have followed in my husband and my footsteps and they love to read too. It’s so fun because my daughter is now reading books by a lot of the authors who I used to work with. Marissa Meyer is her favorite!
It was with my daughter (and my childhood self) in mind that I created these free reading printables. I’m calling them the “I Love Reading” printables, and I’m so pleased with how they turned out!

Included in the set are:
- I love Reading Book Tracker- To track the books you read along with the author name, date the book was read and your rating.
- I Love Reading Book Questions- My daughter would read all day if I let her. I love talking to her about books. These questions are a great launching point to get readers talking about the books they read.
