As I look out the window here in Northern BC I can see the snow is melting, which leads me to fantasize about hanging out on the patio and sipping on some delicious summer sips, like this Healthy Tropical Smoothie.
I don’t post smoothie recipes too often on The Bewitchin Kitchen, but I should because they are so easy. All that needs to be done is to toss the ingredients in a high powered blender (Crystal is a big fan of her Blendtec 725. You can read her review for it here), turn it on and walk away.
Smoothies give me the ability to sneak in some added nutrition that my family otherwise wouldn’t fully enjoy. When I make smoothies, I like to add in kale and/or spinach. I have a very picky toddler in my house and he wouldn’t eat spinach if I covered it in chocolate. That being said, sneaking it into a “monster smoothie” kills two birds with one stone: peace of mind for mom and a delicious treat for the toddler.

Healthy Tropical Smoothie Recipe
The key to the flavor of this tropical smoothie recipe is my secret ingredient? Any guesses what it is? A favorite add-in of mine are extracts. Mint, coconut, almond – they all make a huge difference when it comes to smoothie flavors. I’m a huge fan of coconut, so I use coconut extract often. Pairing pineapple and coconut extract deliver the tropical punch that I look for when I make a healthy tropical smoothie.
Want another health boost? Replace water with coconut water.
Looking for something a little creamer? Replace water with coconut or cashew milk.
Ingredients:
-1 cup water
-1 cup spinach

Very good idea. I myself don’t like spinach or kale but would definitely drink the smoothie once I don’t know its in there.

I love coconut water in my smoothies! It just adds something to it that I don’t get from plain water. Tropical smoothies are my favorite.

I use almond extract sometimes in my smoothies so I love the idea of using coconut extract in a tropical one, yum.
