Create a sweet bird bookmark craft with your kids using our free printable template, construction paper and glue! An easy kids activity perfect for spring!
Hi Crafty Friends!
Y’all, homeschooling isn’t for the faint of heart! Being in quarantine has given me a whole new level of appreciation for my children’s teachers as well as parents that homeschool.
The teachers at my kids’ school have been doing an excellent job of adjusting to the new roll they are playing in their student’s educations as well as showing parents a ton of kindness and empathy.
They have been very creative with the way they are educating, and have created some really fun learning activities for my kids to do during the week. I’ve been doing everything I can to build on what is being sent from the school and being present and active in their education.
My son is in second grade, so one of the areas of focus from his teacher has been learning about spring. We have been encouraged to take nature walks, to look for signs of spring and photograph them and to make observations about spring. My son has also been encouraged to pick a bird that interests him and each day to learn different things about that bird to create a research project.
The sweet little bird bookmark craft seems like the perfect craft project to go with spring homeschooling! I hope that your kiddos love it as much as mine did!
Read on for the easy step-by-step instructions for how to make them.

Instructions:
Step 1: Select colored paper for each piece of the bird. Cut each piece for the bird using the template. For one bird bookmark, you will need– 1 main body, 1 tail, 2 wings, 6 feathers for the wings, 2 feet, 2 eyes, 2 cheeks and 1 beak. Cut each piece.
Step 2: Attach the feather cutouts to the wings using craft glue.
Step 3: Attach the bird’s tail to the body of the bird using craft glue.
Step 4: Attach the eyes and cheeks to the bird’s face using craft glue.
Step 5: Attach the bird’s beak right below the middle part of the eyes and attach the 2 feet along the bottom end of the main body base.
Step 6: Apply a small drop of glue on the part right below the head. We will be attaching a small area of the top of each wing to the body and be keeping the rest of the wings free. Place the top of each wing on the glued part.
Attach the second wing and allow to dry. I like placing my bookmarks under a heavy book to make sure the glue is firmly adhered.
Have your children use their bookmarks to mark the pages of their favorite books!
