DIY Emoji Squishy Stress Balls Filled With Slime. It’s quite a mouthful isn’t it? Well that’s what happens when this mama tries to pack all of her kids favorite things into one seriously adorable craft project!
My kids love slime… really what kids don’t love slime. Me? I’m not so crazy about it. Just the thought of slime getting ground into my carpet or rubbed into my couch makes me cringe. I try to get my kids to keep there slime inside a ziplock back and to play with it that way, but for some reason they aren’t too into that. 😉
My kids also love emojis. If my daughter would wear emojis head to foot she definitely would. She begged us to buy her these Sketcher Emoji Shoes for back to school. The Hubs and I finally relented and bought them for her for Christmas and now she wears emojis on her feet every single day.
My kids are also totally into these new toys called “squishies”. Have you seen these things? Every time we go to Michael’s (which let’s be honest is pretty much on a daily basis) they sprint to the aisle that has the squishies and BEG me to buy them. The squishies are $20 at my Michael’s and I honestly don’t get the appeal. I’m fairly certain that they will end up on the floor and being torn up by our dogs who will think it’s a chew toy. Then I’ll be saying “bye bye ” to that $20 I spent on them!
Being the creative mama that I am, I took these three things that my kids LOVE SO MUCH and put them together in one convenient package. This project makes both mama and the kids very happy– The slime is contained inside not ONE but TWO balloons. The slime gives kids the squish that they so desperately seek in a squishy AND they have adorable emoji faces (and if I’m being honest here, who doesn’t love an adorable emoji face???)
This project also remind me of stress balls so I hit up Instagram stories to ask people if they would call them a squishy or a stress ball. The vote was split so I decided to be a rebel and put both names into my title!
I think these would look adorable in Easter baskets, be an amazing candy free Valentine’s Day gift and be super fun for birthday party favors. They are also a really fun little craft to do with your kids! Ready to get started? Read on for my instructions for how to make a DIY Emoji Squishy Stress Balls Filled With Slime.
DIY Emoji Squishy Stress Balls Filled With Slime
Materials:
-Approximately 1/2 cup of your favorite slime per balloon. I decided to make the two ingredient slime from The Typical Mom. To make it you will need Tide Laundry Detergent and Elmer’s School Glue. (Note: I decided to experiment using dollar store laundry detergent. It didn’t work. Stick with the Tide!)
-Scissors
–Yellow Balloons (two per ball)
–Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore (Don’t have a Cricut? No problem! Skip past the next few materials to my note below!)
–My Cricut Emoji Face Cut File
Note: Don’t have a Cricut? No problem! Pick up a pack of these emoji balloons for your outer balloon and skip cutting the vinyl!
Directions:
Step 1: Make your slime. If you don’t have a favorite slime recipe I found this two ingredient slime from The Typical Mom to be fabulous.
Step 2: Fill a yellow balloon with slime. You’ll find this easiest if you have a second set of hands. Have one person stick 4 fingers inside the balloon and pull the balloon as wide open as possible while the second person stuffs the slime into the balloon. Push the slime down into the balloon as far as possible while pulling at the part of the balloon that you blow into. Knot the balloon making the knot as close to the slime as possible so that your balloon has a round shape.
Step 3: Cut the tail off of the balloon above the knot. Take a second yellow balloon and cut away the neck of the balloon that you blow into.
Spread your second balloon over the balloon filled with slime, hiding the knot of the slime filled balloon up inside the second balloon.
Step 4: Open my My Cricut Emoji Face Cut File, measure how big you want your faces to be (I did mine 1.5 inches tall), size the faces and cut the them into your vinyl.
Step 5: Weed your vinyl, removing the extra vinyl and leaving just your emoji faces on the paper backing.
Step 6: Using your transfer tape, transfer the vinyl faces onto your balloon/squishy/stress ball. Viola! You have adorable DIY Emoji Squishy Stress Balls Filled With Slime that your kids can play with and squish to their hearts content!
Here is one of the DIY Emoji Squishy Stress Balls that I made using a balloon that already had a face pre-printed on it! I think it turned out super adorable too!

This is awesome. I will try making some tonight. The kids are really going to love the slime part.

These look great. Do you have to seal the second balloon around the first? If so, how please? Superglue?
Crystal says
Hi Anna,
We did not seal the second balloon. We just clipped it near the “spout” where you blow into. If you wanted to you could tie the second balloon and have the tie at the back. I hope that helps!
Best Wishes,
Crystal

Does the vinyl get ruined/peel with the squishing?

Hi! I love this project for my daughter’s emoji sleepover party! The Emoji SVG file is now saved as “private” it says. Is there a place to download the SVG’s? I didn’t see it in your shop. Thanks for your help!

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for your message. There was a recent Cricut Update that seems to have made links glitch. I think the link is fixed now though. Let me know if it works for you.
Best Wishes,
Crystal
