Homemade Glazed Lemon Loaf (So Good You Might Want to Double the Recipe)

Lemon has always been one of my favorite flavors. When we virtually toured the house we now live in here in Hawaii, one of the things that excited me most was the Meyer lemon tree growing in the backyard. Ever since, I’ve been a lemon loaf and lemonade-making machine!
If you have a lemon tree—or some lemon juice that needs using—this is the perfect way to put them to delicious use.

What’s the Difference Between a Loaf and Bread?
Great question! While the words often get used interchangeably, here’s the breakdown:
Bread typically refers to yeast-based recipes—think sandwich bread or dinner rolls. They rise thanks to yeast and have a chewy texture.
Loaf, especially in recipes like this one, usually refers to quick breads. These are made with baking powder or soda instead of yeast. They’re sweet, moist, and cake-like—perfect for breakfast or dessert!
So, while lemon loaf is a bread (because of its shape), it falls under the “quick bread” or loaf category—meaning it’s easy and doesn’t require rising time.
