Easy Glazed Lemon Loaf Recipe

There’s just something about lemon that feels like sunshine in dessert form. Whether it’s spring or summer (or you’re simply craving a zesty treat), this Easy Glazed Lemon Loaf recipe is bursting with citrus flavor and topped with the most luscious lemon drizzle.

It’s the kind of recipe that disappears within a day in our house—my husband and kids can’t resist sneaking into the kitchen to snag a slice. Honestly? I can’t blame them.

This lemon loaf is:

  • Easy to make (even if you’re not an experienced baker)
  • Moist and tender with the perfect crumb
  • Packed with fresh lemon flavour
  • Drizzled with a tart and sweet lemon glaze that soaks into every bite

I make it year-round, but it’s especially perfect for Easter brunch, Mother’s Day tea, a Fourth of July picnic, or as a gift to brighten a friend’s day.

Glazed Lemon Loaf with lemons, tulips and a kitchen towel

Lemon has always been one of my favorite flavors. When we virtually toured the house we now live in here in Hawaii, one of the things that excited me most was the Meyer lemon tree growing in the backyard. Ever since, I’ve been a lemon loaf and lemonade-making machine!

If you have a lemon tree—or some lemon juice that needs using—this is the perfect way to put them to delicious use.

Great question! While the words often get used interchangeably, here’s the breakdown:

Bread typically refers to yeast-based recipes—think sandwich bread or dinner rolls. They rise thanks to yeast and have a chewy texture.

Loaf, especially in recipes like this one, usually refers to quick breads. These are made with baking powder or soda instead of yeast. They’re sweet, moist, and cake-like—perfect for breakfast or dessert!

So, while lemon loaf is a bread (because of its shape), it falls under the “quick bread” or loaf category—meaning it’s easy and doesn’t require rising time.
