When you have two kids, it feels like your entire life is filled with gift giving. Birthday parties, holiday parties, teacher gifts, presents for nana and popa on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, family birthdays, Valentine’s Day… the list goes on and on. Just recently we were invited to 4 birthday parties in one weekend! 4!!! Sometimes it makes my head spin.
I always get my kids involved by making a card for the gift recipient… because really, is there any question that the recipient won’t love a card that has been made by hand, and has a thoughtful, personalized message put in it vs. a card that you buy at your local big box store? Plus store bought cards are expensive and that’s more money that you can put into the gift, or back into your pocketbook!
I recently went one step beyond the card making and had my kids help me make wrapping paper too!
Years ago I bought my kids the Ikea Mala Paper Holder. For the holder and the paper it cost less than $15. Not only is it great for art projects… It’s also AWESOME for making your own wrapping paper. I think they are a great little investment for any creative family.
In the past I’ve always just decorated the paper with sharpie markers, but this time I decided to go one step further and stamp them. I used cookie cutters to cut out the potato stamps. There is a ton of great cookie cutters out there available for different holidays and seasons, so creating the perfect wrapping paper for any occasion is simple!
Read on for instructions on how to make your own DIY Wrapping Paper Using Potatoes and Cookie Cutters.

Step 1: Slice the potatoes so they are approximately half an inch thick. Cut your stamps out using a potato cutter.
