Introverts, Extroverts and Ambiverts

Introverts and Extroverts image with a girl in an extrovert situation dancing and a girl quietly crafting as an introvert at home.

I have always found the world of introverts and extroverts very interesting. For a long time time I thought that an introvert was someone who was shy and an extrovert was someone who was very social. But there is actually more to it than that.

A lot of what classifies someone as an introvert or extrovert is what being around people does to their energy.

What is an introvert?

According to Dr. Jennifer Kahnweiler, author of The Introverted Leader: Building on Your Quiet Strength “Introverts are people who get their energy from spending time alone. It’s kind of like a battery they recharge, and then they can go out into the world and connect really beautifully with people.”

What is an extrovert?

According to VeryWellMind.com “Extroverts draw energy from social interactions. People who are extroverts tend to feel excited about spending time with other people. They have a lot of social confidence and tend to have high self-esteem in general.”

What is an ambivert?

Simply Psychology classifies ambiverts as “the quality of having both introverted and extroverted personality traits. Unlike introverts, who gain energy from solitude, or extroverts, who feel energized by socializing, ambiverts fall somewhere in the middle. They often enjoy spending time with others but also value their alone time and need some time to recharge after social interactions.”

If I had to choose one category or the other, I would have to say that I’m an introvert. I am shy by nature, worry about what I am going to talk about with people who I don’t know and interacting with strangers takes more energy from me than it gives me.

That being said, if I have a job or a task then the extrovert in me definitely comes out.

For example put me in front of a room of people who want to learn how to use a Cricut cutting machine? You can’t shut me up!

Want me to coordinate a wedding and make sure your entire wedding party gets down the aisle when they are supposed to and that are your vendors are set up on time? I’m your gal!

Want me to be a guest at your wedding and interact with a table of strangers who I don’t know? Not my cup of tea!

I think that this tendency of being able to rule a room when I have a job puts me in more of the ambivert category with introvert tendencies.

How about you? Are you an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert?

Social Butterfly / Anti-Social Butterfly SVG

Two shirts. One white that says Social Butterfly and one black that says Anti-Social Butterfly

For this month’s SVG file I created files for both our introverts and extroverts. And if you are an ambivert you can create projects with both designs and use the one that you are more leaning towards that day!

My two designs say Social Butterfly and Anti-Social Butterfly.

I think that these cut files are perfect for making shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts!

They would also be super cute for mugs.
