Hi Crafty Friends! It’s the third Thursday of the month and you know what that means! It’s time for a brand new SVG collection! Just over a year ago I released a Hot Mess Mom cut file collection with my #TotallyFreeSVG group, and that cut file has been my most downloaded cut file I’ve ever made, that’s why I’m so excited that this month we’re returning to the theme and doing a Mom Life collection.
See our original Hot Mess Moms cut file collection here:
This theme is such a fun one, I feel like I could design a million and one designs that are fitting for it. I love making myself DIY shirts using my Cricut. I have a few shirts that I made with the last Hot Mess Moms collection, and I can’t wait make myself some more using today’s collection!
Good Moms Say Bad Words
Before I became a full time blogger/small business owner, I worked as a children’s book publicist at a local publishing company. You would think that people who work in publishing would be book nerds, who use big words and refrain from cursing– but you would be wrong! LOL. I worked as a waitress for years before working in publishing. I thought that restaurant staff let the “bad” words fly in the kitchen, but they had nothing on my publishing friends. Some of the things that were said behind boardroom doors would make a trucker blush!
When I left publishing my youngest was 2 and my oldest was 5. I went from hanging out with adults all day, to hanging out with littles all day. I’ll be honest… my mouth took awhile to catch up to the fact that I was hanging out with 5 year olds, not 45 year olds.
I’ll never forget the day that my youngest was sitting on our stairs, trying to get his boot off. He was kicking his foot back and forth and suddenly “f*** it!” popped out of his sweet little mouth.
My mind immediately went into damage control mode. “Sweety, that’s not nice. We don’t talk about forks when we aren’t at the dining room table. Please don’t say “Fork It”.” I said.
And of course my very precocious 5 year old jumped right in and said “Mommy! He didn’t say fork it! He said “F*** it.”
Luckily, I was able to dial back my use of bad language while they were little, but now that they are a bit older my kids are well aware that those words are adult words, and that they will hear adults saying them, but that they are not words to be used by kids.
I’m a firm believer that just because you use bad words, does not make you a bad mother. And for that reason I designed today’s design.
It looks so cute on a t-shirt. I’m going to be wearing this all summer long. I also love it on a mug where I think it could be especially fitting before mama’s had her morning cup of coffee or tea!
