Our Halloween decorations came down over the weekend, so that means it’s officially Christmas– right? I’ve confessed to you all in the past that fall is not my most favorite time of year (fall is pretty grey and rainy here in Vancouver)… but Christmas, oh Christmas is a different story.

We may not experience a White Christmas very often in Vancouver, but in my heart the moment Bing Crosby starts crooning “I’m dreaming of a…” my heart is instantly transported to that Christmas from my childhood where we were snowed in during a blizzard and got a foot of snow a day.

I am truly a Christmas song kinda girl and nothing makes me happier than curling up under a blanket, fingers curled around a hot mug of tea, fireplace crackling, Christmas songs playing on the stereo, the smell of pine needles in the air, watching the lights twinkle on our Christmas tree. It’s truly my version of heaven on earth.

Christmas Song Kinda Girl SVG

This month I got together with a group of blogger friends and we all created free Christmas SVG files for you. I started my design process by brainstorming my favorite things about Christmas. Right away Bing Crosby and Michael Buble came to mind and the thought of how much music can set a mood and transport you to a whole other time and place. I started writing down some of my favorite Christmas songs and before I knew it this gorgeous little Christmas tree shaped design was created!

Cricut EasyPress

For those of you who are crafty like that, let’s talk about the Cricut EasyPress 2. Have you heard about this miracle machine?

One of my favorite craft projects is making shirts. My whole family’s wardrobe is filled with shirts that I’ve made using heat transfer vinyl. When I first got my Cricut, shirts were pretty much the only thing that I made with my machine. I’ve had a ton of friends tell me that they’ve been interested in buying a Cricut but they said that they didn’t know if they were crafty enough that they’d get enough use out of it. I have told them all, that for creating clothing alone the Cricut is well worth the price.

As much as I loved the finished results of making shirts, I found that applying the HTV to clothing using my iron was a pain in the butt. What should have been a 10 minute project was easily taking an hour because I was having such a hard time using my iron to effectively make the HTV adhere to the shirts.

Turns out there is a reason for this! An iron doesn’t heat evenly across the entire plate plus in my experience it hard to get an exact temperature with an iron. So while some areas of my project were getting overheated other areas were hardly getting heated at all. Even when I thought that I had a good “stick” on my project, once it had gone through the washer and dryer the HTV would start to peel.

I remember complaining to my husband and telling him that I needed to buy a heat press, but I had no idea where I would store it when I wasn’t using it. I needed something compact enough that it worked for the home crafter, but that gave me professional results. Enter the Cricut EasyPress 2! It’s taken my dream of “professional results in minutes” and brought it to life!

Win a 12X10 Cricut EasyPress 2 from Hello Creative Family. Must live in Canada or the US to enter. Contest closes November 20th, 2018. #Giveaway #Cricut #CricutMade #contest

Here’s why I love my Cricut EasyPress 2:

-Where your average heat press takes anywhere from 7-18 minutes to heat up, the Cricut EasyPress 2 takes only 2 minutes and can achieve temperatures of up to 400F.

-It’s compact and fits easily on my craft room shelf when I’m not using it BUT is pretty enough that it looks gorgeous sitting out on my craft room table.

-It’s available in 3 sizes- 6X7, 9X9 and 12X10 which means there’s a perfect size for every project.

-Has even heating from one edge of the heat plate to the other so that you get perfect results every time.

-Adheres HTV in 60 seconds or less which means you can get a ton of crafting done in a small amount of time!

-Has temperature control that allows you to select the temperature that your heat press is set to in 5 degree increments.

-Has a timer so you know exactly how long you need to press for.

-Has an insulated safety base to keep your workspace safe AND auto shuts off after 10 minutes of inactivity (I’m the girl who’s always forgetting to turn off her iron!)

-Can be used on multiple materials from cotton to corkboard to wood!

Also available the Cricut EasyPress Mat– Protect your surface and achieve flawless iron-on applications with this essential Cricut EasyPress companion. Five layers of heat-resistant, moisture-wicking insulation create the ideal environment for foolproof iron-on results. Available in three sizes.
